Ať už jde o proměnu ženského těla v prasečí, nebo proměnu normální situace "světa s manželem" do podivného, nepatřičného, hrůzného "světa bez manžela". Jako první vydala Darrieussecqová knihu Truismy (Truismes, nakl. P.O.L., 1996), tedy Banality či často opakovaná tvrzení. Proklamované všednosti však název pozbývá tím, že ve francouzštině slovo "truismes" odvolává k "la truie", což je svině, prasnice. A román skutečně pojednává o metamorfóze ženy v prasnici. Vypravěčka, chvíli žena, chvíli svině (nikoli však svině v tom smyslu, jak ho užíváme často v češtině), většinou něco na cestě mezi jedním a druhým, je mírumilovná bytost zcela ponořená do svého problému postupného proměňování, jež zpočátku nechápe, později shledává příjemným prostředkem, jak se stát sama sebou, bytostí vlastně nadřazenou všemu dění kolem, podivným poměrům ve společnosti.
