THE GOOD HEART is an exciting and stimulating first in publishing history. Never before has the Dalai Lama analysed the Christian gospels in a public forum - and provided new insights on the faith of Christians and Buddhists alike. In examining the meaning of key texts from the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John the Dalai Lama finds similarities in Christian and Buddhist teachings, including those on loving your enemy, the Beatitudes, and the extraordinary correspondence between the narratives and lives of Jesus Christ and Buddha. There is also lively and good humoured discussion on a wide variety of other subjects, including the theory and purpose of meditation. This book provides a model of how dialogue between religions should be conducted - with respect, reverence and the joy of friendship.
