Narodil se roku 1761 v Anglii a krátce po své ordinaci baptistickým kazatelem odplul do Indie, kde přinesl duchovní ovoce, které je podle dnešních měřítek obrovské a neuvěřitelné. Snad by k tomu mohl přispět i tento krátký nástin života Jana Kalvína, církevního reformátora, který byl v českém jazyce dosud poněkud opomíjen.
