Das Künstlerbuch erscheint anlässlich der Ausstellung Zu groß für mein Zimmer. In dieser autobiographisch geprägten Arbeit spielt Benjamin Appel mit Assoziationen und Erinnerungsräumen, rund um die konkrete Erinnerung an ein Grundstück in seinem Heimatland Ecuador. Auf diesem standen in seiner subjektiven Wahrnehmung 400 Avocadobäume. Da dieses Grundstück in seiner ursprünglichen Form nicht mehr existiert, gibt es keinen Beweis für die Existenz dieser Bäume. Als Zeugnis der Bäume wählte Benjamin Appel stellvertretend ein Foto eines Avocadobaumes aus einer Bilddatenbank aus, das in dem Künstlerbuch 400 mal abgebildet ist. Román odhaluje zákulisí newyorských odborových organizací přístavních dělníků, které ovládají gangsterské tlupy, vydržované dokařskými firmami k rozbíjení stávek a vraždění dělnických vůdců.
