Kirsten Bradbury Pořadí knih (chronologicky)

Po úspěchu, jaký sklidil rozměrný knižní artefakt Leonardo da Vinci, vychází v českém překladu také úplné dílo Michelangela Buonarrotiho. První část této velkolepé knihy zobrazuje umělcův život, a to formou rozsáhlého a bohatě ilustrovaného eseje. Těžištěm knihy je ovšem samotné Michelagelovo dílo, jehož labyrintem je čtenář provázen. Celistvý přehled děl a jejich podrobný komentář je rozdělen do čtyř oddílů, jejichž obsahem je 7 maleb (včetně fresky Posledního soudu a výzdoby stropu v Sixtinské kapli), 44 soch, 535 kreseb a 24 staveb. Nádherné celostránkové reprodukce a zvětšeniny detailů ještě více umocní čtenářův dojem. Kniha vychází k 500. výročí od započetí Michelangelovy výzdoby Sixtinské kaple.

Michelangelo was recognized as a great artist early in his long and prolific career. Along with a small band of contemporaries, he was responsible for sixteenth-century Florence becoming the center of a movement of artists that has permanently enriched western culture. Essential Michelangelo looks in detail at all aspects of his work, with comprehensive commentary on 120 examples of his pieces. While many of these are among his most famous, others may be less well known, but they are all equally essential to the development of Michelangelo's artistic philosophy.

This text examines Dali and his work in detail. The book highlights the progress of his career and shows how he returned time and time again to subjects that both facsinated and intimidated him."
