Kniha proměn je nejstarší dochovaná čínská kniha věštebná a filosofická. Původní věštebné texty se tradovaly ústně po generace šamanů a věštců dynastií Šang a Čou, během dvou tisíciletí př. n. l. Zapsány byly kolem počátku prvního tisíciletí př. n. l. Jádro tvoří symbolickésestavy osmi trigramů a šedesáti čtyř hexagramů, vznikajících důmyslnou kombinací plných (jangových) a lomených (jinových) čar. Z čínštiny přeložil, výkladem a komentáři opatřil Oldřich Král.

The Analects is considered one of the most important texts of ancient China. It is thought to be a compilation of discussions among Confucius and various sages on different topics, recorded by his followers or students. Some findings suggest that the text was written during the Warring States period (475–221 BC) in Chinese history. According to experts, the text gained significance during the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD), a time when efforts were made to unify the states of China under one imperial structure, and it began to be regarded as one of the most important texts of Confucianism towards the end of this period. The leading figures of that time likely viewed the Analects as a guide for building a great state.

The book of wisdom by Mencius, a philosopher and sage of Ancient China is presented here in hardcover with an authoritative English translation. Written during and shortly after the Warring States period of Chinese antiquity, the book of Mencius is a selection of conversational dialogues between the philosopher and his various disciples. Together they discuss all manner of topics, from living a happy and virtuous life to the principles of raising a family and educating the young. Breaking with Confucius himself, who venerated rulers and strong governance, Mencius argues for the right of common people to overthrow a repressive or brutal regime. The book is rich with analogy, examining the actions of the ancient kings and dukes of China in order to draw comparisons and enhance the lessons offered. In life, Mencius was a prominent figure who traveled and lectured widely, serving variously as an educator, official and scholar in the realms of ancient China.
