It contains a brief history of Poland with a focus on the period of World War Two and notes on Polish saints. The book’s authors are former IPN President Dr Lukasz Kaminski and Dr Maciej Korkuc of the IPN chapter in Krakow. Dr Korkuc explained that the book presents Poland in a concise and accessible way, intended to help young pilgrims understand the country, its history, culture, symbols, the footsteps of great figures of Polish history, that the young people would encounter during WYD 2016. "We want to make it easier for them to understand these things," the historian said. He added that due to the Catholic character of the Krakow meeting, the booklet also includes information on Polish saints. The book was distributed free of charge to pilgrims during World Youth Day. Now the electronic version can be read online or downloaded in PDF format from the pamiec.pl website (http://pamiec.pl/pa/biblioteka-cyfrow...). The 120-page publication contains numerous photographs and is available in Polish, English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian.
