Podtitul: Rané přednášky v Moskvě, Jessentukách, Tbilisi, Berlíně, Londýně, Paříži, New Yorku a Chicagu, podle záznamů jeho žáků. Kniha představuje soubor přednášek autora pronesených k jeho žákům. Sbírka vyšla až po jeho smrti a je vytvořena na základě deníkových zápisů a vzpomínek lidí, kteří se těchto přednášek zúčastnili. Je to záznam způsobu, jakým Gurdžijev učil své žáky, ale také zrcadlo vývoje jeho myšlenek od „ruských“ skupin (1912–1917) přes období útěku před Ruskou revolucí cestou přes Tbilisi, Istanbul, Berlín a Londýn do Francie, kde blízko Paříže založil Institut pro harmonický vývoj v bývalém opatství (Prieuré) v Avonu. Dále jsou zde také jeho promluvy v Americe, kam od roku 1924 pravidelně jezdil a kde založil přidružené skupiny. Přestože některé texty z této knihy už česky vyšly, nyní se čtenáři dostává do rukou úplný překlad tohoto stěžejního díla Čtvrté cesty. Z angličtiny přeložil Klub G.I. Gurdžijeva. G. I. Gurdžijev byl jedním z velmi vlivných mystiků a duchovních učitelů. Původem Řek, který žil v Rusku a později emigroval do USA. Over one hundred years ago in Russia, G. I. Gurdjieff introduced a spiritual teaching of conscious evolution—a way of gnosis or “knowledge of being” passed on from remote antiquity. Gurdjieff’s early talks in Europe were published in the form of chronological fragments preserved by his close followers P. D. Ouspensky and Jeanne de Salzmann.
