The body of knowledge in medical specialties is rapidly expanding, making it challenging to keep up with advances in relevant clinical and basic sciences. This is especially true in pediatric endocrinology, which intersects pediatrics, endocrinology, development, and genetics. The Yearbook of Pediatric Endocrinology 2010 provides abstracts of significant breakthroughs in basic sciences and evidence-based knowledge in clinical research and practice. It aims to keep busy clinicians, scientists, pediatric endocrinologists, and pediatricians informed about new developments. Twelve Associate Editors and co-authors meticulously selected and summarized thousands of papers, highlighting those that offered the most meaningful insights. The selected papers cover new genes linked to diseases, novel hormones, revised concepts, key clinical observations, large-scale trials, and emerging paradigms. Important review articles and new perspectives on fears and hopes in the field are also included. Endorsed by the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), the Yearbook's publication aligns with the ESPE annual meeting. It encompasses the medical and scientific literature from June 2009 to May 2010.
