Catherine je podle všeho obdivuhodně všestranná žena. Má několik vědeckých titulů, zvláště se zabývala kvantovou teorií. Je také baletka a mimo fyziky učí i balet a tanec. Spojením její romantické baletní a exaktní fyzikální stránky vzniklo několik velice úspěšných space-oper. Má dvě děti se svým manželem astrofyzikem. Ostravské nakladatelství Fantom Print vydalo dvě části z jejího cyklu Rubínová dynastie nazvané Osudový zvrat (1995) a Zářivé Hlubiny (1999).
