This thoroughly revised and expanded third edition of Andy Warhol Prints: A Catalogue Raisonne 1962-1987 traces Warhol's complete graphic oeuvre from the first unique works on paper in 1962 through his final published portfolio in 1987. More than 1,100 works are illustrated, and complete documentation is provided for each. Among these are 650 unique edition prints, trial proof edition prints, and unpublished prints that Warhol created for personal projects and on commission, all works which were not included in the earlier editions of this catalogue. The illustrations and technical data are complemented by two essays that explore Warhol's graphic production from different perspectives.

Viele bekannte Persönlichkeiten finden sich auf diesen Seiten: Truman Capote mit den frischen Narben nach einem Facelifting, Madonna, die sich hinter einem brünetten Bob versteckt, ein nackter Keith Haring, der gerade im Meer badet. Warhol, der als Kind osteuropäischer Einwanderer als Andrew Warhola geboren wurde und zum wichtigsten Künstler der USA avancierte, war gleichzeitig dessen bester Entlarver und Deuter. Amerika ist eine sehr persönliche Sammlung von 250 Fotografien, durchsetzt mit Anekdoten und aphorismenhaften Reflexionen, die einem die USA besser erklären als dicke Wälzer. Das Buch, das zum ersten Mal auf Deutsch erscheint, ist eine zeitlose Momentaufnahme über Starkult, Kommerzwut, Schönheitswahn, also des American Dreams und Wahns.

Er erkundet seine größten Obsessionen - einschließlich Bild und Berühmtheit - und fotografiert Wrestler und Politiker, die schönen Reichen und die entrechteten Armen, Capote mit den frischen Narben eines Facelifts und Madonna, die sich unter einem brünetten Bob versteckt. Er schreibt über das Land, das er liebt, darüber, dass er gewünscht hätte, er wäre gestorben, als er erschossen wurde, über Kommerz, Ruhm und Schönheit.
