Složení autorského kolektivu je podobně rozmanité – převažují v něm autoři francouzští, ale vedle nich nalézáme i odborníky z Itálie, Německa, Anglie, Spojených států, Polska i Ruska. Podařilo se tak encyklopedii vtisknout celoevropský rozměr, byť její zaměření zůstává v první řadě západoevropské a v samém centru pozornosti je pochopitelně Francie. Díky knize dojde čtenář k hlubšímu pochopení oné nejednoznačné, vzrušující a v mnohém klíčové epochy evropských dějin.
