Notes on Numerical Fluid Mechanics and Multidisciplinary Design - 29: Proceedings of the Eighth GAMM Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Mechanics
    • This volume presents the Proceedings of the Eighth GAMM Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Mechanics, held in Delft, The Netherlands, from September 27-29, 1989. Organized bi-annually by the Committee on Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics of the Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, the conference drew around 140 participants from around the globe. It features written versions of 61 papers selected from 145 submitted abstracts, reflecting the high quality of contributions. The decision to include more papers than in previous conferences highlights the current trends in computational fluid dynamics, including significant advancements in hypersonic aerodynamics, driven by projects like Hermes. Additionally, notable progress is reported in adaptive and multigrid computing methods, as well as visualization and three-dimensional computing. The local organization was managed by the Congress Office of Delft University of Technology, under the capable leadership of Mrs. M.H.P. Komen-Zimmerman and Mrs. A. de Bruin. The volume also includes a report on the GAMM-Workshop "Numerical Simulation of Oscillatory Convection in Low-Pr Fluids," which took place in Marseille in October 1988.
