Dodd zieht dazu unveröffentlichte Texte aus dem Nachlass und in Vergessenheit geratene Beiträge aus der Frankfurter Zeitung heran, die zum Teil im Textanhang abgedruckt sind. Der von Sternberger in der »inneren Emigration« entwickelte sprachkritische Habitus sollte für die in der Wandlung veröffentlichten Glossen, das »Wörterbuch des Unmenschen«, bestimmend werden. Mit den späteren Buchausgaben dieses Wörterbuches setzte eine öffentliche Rezeption ein, die einen Höhepunkt im »Sprachstreit« der 1960er Jahre fand.
