Sbírka hororových a fantastických povídek známého amerického autora. Autor románu Psycho, proslaveného Hitchcockovým filmem, se tu představuje jako rutinní tvůrce fantastických, hororových a sci-fi povídek s širokým spektrem námětů. Bloch nezapře, že jeho velkým vzorem byl Ray Bradbury – mnohé povídky jsou jakýmisi variacemi na bradburyovská témata: zanikající kouzlo amerického Jihu, okouzlení filmem, záhadný vlak z jiného světa nebo hold E. Humoru je v našem světě jako šafránu, a možná i právě proto Peter Haining sestavil již třetí soubor sci-fi, fantasy a detektivních povídek, které neberou svůj žánr docela vážně.
