Kniha je plná odporných scén o marném zápasu lidí se slimáky, kteří se z neznámých důvodů bleskurychle rozšířili ze stok a kanalizace do bytů a městských ulic a proti nimž nemá člověk žádnou šanci. Nakonec se podaří elektrickým proudem malé šelmy vyhubit a podzemí města vyčistit.
