    Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt byl lékař, fyziolog, filozof a profesor, který je dnes považován za jednu ze zakládajících postav moderní psychologie a „otce experimentální psychologie“. V roce 1879 založil na Lipské univerzitě první formální laboratoř pro psychologický výzkum a vytvořil tak psychologii jako samostatnou vědní disciplínu. Byl také zakladatelem prvního akademického časopisu pro psychologický výzkum, Philosophical Studies, v roce 1883.
