Vassily Kandinsky, the famous pioneer of abstract art, taught at the Bauhaus from 1922 to 1933 – longer than any of the other Bauhaus masters. ‘Vassily Kandinsky – Teaching at the Bauhaus’ presents his teaching work in detail in a total of 195 pages. During his period at the Bauhaus, Kandinsky further developed the ideas on the theory of art that he had already published in his book Über das Geistige in der Kunst [Concerning the Spiritual in Art] (1912), and he taught in the Mural Painting Workshop, in the Basic and Main Courses, and in the Free Painting Course at the Bauhaus. The present publication includes four specialist essays, with a total of 200 illustrations from teaching manuscripts and materials used by the Bauhaus teacher, practical exercises and notes made by his students, and also numerous original photographs. The book concludes with biographies of Kandinsky and his students, as well as a selected bibliography. English edition.
