At the center of the story is Toby O'Dare, known as Lucky the Fox, a notorious contract killer living under various aliases. Lucky, who grew up in New Orleans with an alcoholic mother and a murdered father, once dreamed of becoming a priest, seeking refuge in rituals, history, and music. Now, he seizes this unexpected opportunity. Transported back to thirteenth-century England, Lucky enters a perilous world where Jews, despised and accused of heinous crimes, live under constant threat. As he navigates this treacherous landscape, his journey unfolds from medieval villages to the cities of London and Paris, evolving into a tale of danger, loyalty, betrayal, selflessness, and love.
