Father of the Man

Set against the backdrop of rural Montana in the 1890s, the story follows Edward Finlay's journey shaped by his cattle rancher father, his education-focused mother, and his friendship with a boy from the Crow Indian Reservation. This friendship exposes Edward to a dwindling warrior culture. Tensions arise when he pursues a romance with an older woman from the reservation, prompting his mother to send him to Stanford University, marking a pivotal turn in his life.
