Studies on First Clement

Focusing on the ecclesiastical structure of the early church, this work delves into the significance of the Old Testament in 1 Clement. William Wrede, influenced by his mentor Adolf von Harnack, presents a foundational analysis originally published in German, now available in English for the first time. Despite being less recognized than his later work, The Messianic Secret, this dissertation laid the groundwork for subsequent studies, influencing later interpretations even as they diverged from Wrede's conclusions.
