On February 11, 1992, Patrick Lanigan, a partner at the law firm Bogan, Rapley, Vitrano, Havarac & Lanigan, watches his own funeral through binoculars from a tree. Days earlier, his grotesquely mutilated body was found in his burned-out car. Six weeks later, a staggering $90 million from a client goes missing, and suspicion quickly falls on Patrick, who may not be as dead as everyone believed. Four years later, he is discovered in a small town in Brazil.
