Více o knize
Regardless of the reasons he gradually slipped into crime and ultimately fell from grace, Guy Prime remains one of the most compelling characters created by Louis Auchincloss. Guy's gravest mistake seems not to be greed, but rather a chronic tendency to misinterpret human character. In this character novel, Guy narrates his story, evoking the atmosphere of the Depression and the New Deal. He attempts to justify his conspicuous role and the dual circumstances of his crime and subsequent imprisonment in the scandals that led to federal regulation of the American stock market. Following his memories are those of his former friend Rex Greer, a stiff Wall Street banker, and finally those of Angelica, Guy's ex-wife.
