Více o knize

Do you think that country house murder is a relic of the 1930s? Think again and meet the Manciples, just the kind of eccentric family you would love to see ruling over your little English village. Unfortunately, the Manciples' time as lords of the manor may be coming to an end: a certain Mr. Mason—a local bookmaker who seems to have made some very good bets—wants to buy the Manciples' estate and will not take no for an answer, even though they have no interest in selling. It becomes a matter of suspicion when Mason is found with a bullet in his head in the Manciples' driveway. Like all the best policemen in small towns, the village constable is baffled, calls Scotland Yard, and is (mostly) pleased to be graced with Inspector Henry Tibbett. Henry, however, is less pleased to be confronted with a case that begins with an old man solemnly murmuring "bang-bang," transitions to the secrets of the Bishop of Bugololand, and ends with an investigation into what drove the family to Africa many years ago.
