It's okay to believe everything you've heard about San Antonio. Chances are it's all been good. To shower a city with undue accolades would unseat most born-and-bred Texans, but the remarkable thing about San Antone (as the locals say), is that it's downright hard not to like this place. What's not to love about a decidedly laidback city with an incurable penchant for sun. Did someone say fiesta? San Antonions were born to fiesta! And all the color, excitement and pageantry is likely to be as Paseo del Rio, warmly known as the River Walk. Outdoor cafes, trendy boutiques, romantic cruises along the riverway--the sights, sounds and smells--this place seems unreal! Truth is, San Antonion's come a long way, yet wields an amazing knack for preserving its past. The San Antonio Missions are an exemplary case in point. The best-known, the Alamo, is hugely popular with tourists, and heartily revered y natives. It seems quite fitting that the home of the Alamo is home, as well, to five military installations--popular with visitors and a mainstay of city economy. So settle in for some great times. Honest-to-goodness fun has never been so real as it is in San Antonio.
