The first volume of a fantasy series by the author of The Books of the Kingdoms. The wild ambition of Tharn, the Mad God, had threatened the very fabric of reality, delivered chaos on the world. Now Tharn was bound by sorceries, banished into limbo, forgotten by all except power-lusting wizards.
Condemned to an eternal sleep that only the holder of the ancient book of spells can undo, Tharn and Balatur are blissfully unaware that an evil necromancer has obtained the book and only the exiled prince Calandryll can save them.
