    Jedné noci, když malý Tyler se svými nejlepšími kamarády, dvojčaty Dianou a Jasonem, pozoroval oblohu, zhasly hvězdy a už se neobjevily. Ve stejném okamžiku zmizely z oběžné dráhy všechny družice a ráno se na nebi místo slunce objevila jen jakási nedokonalá náhražka. Jak se ukázalo později, Země se ocitla v jakémsi „kosmickém pytli“ způsobujícím kromě dokonalé izolace i to, že se jeden den na ní rovnal milionu let v okolním vesmíru.
