Coleridge's contributions to literature extend beyond his poetry, as he was a pivotal figure in the Romantic Movement and a member of the Lake Poets. His collaborations with notable contemporaries enriched English literature, while his critical insights, particularly on Shakespeare, shaped literary criticism. Coleridge's introduction of German idealist philosophy into English thought and his creation of phrases like "suspension of disbelief" highlight his lasting impact. His influence also reached American transcendentalism, notably affecting Ralph Waldo Emerson.
