Ute Krauseová, jejíž dětství formovalo dětství strávené v Turecku, Nigérii, na Kypru a v Indii, se po letech strávených v USA usadila v Berlíně. Její umělecká dráha začala studiem vizuální komunikace a pokračovala na prestižních institucích v New Yorku a Mnichově. Krauseová se věnuje rozmanitým uměleckým formám, včetně krátkých a dokumentárních filmů, animací a scénářů, přičemž její tvorba se od roku 1985 soustředí na dětskou literaturu. Ilustrovala stovky knih a je autorkou vlastních úspěšných děl, která byla přeložena do mnoha jazyků a adaptována pro televizi, čímž si získala mezinárodní uznání.
