Triadická struktura umožňuje výstavbu děje ve schématu teze - antiteze - synteze. Je možné, že trojveršové schéma vzniklo po vzoru Nejsvětější trojice. Po Dantově vzoru jí začali užívat i Petrarca a Boccaccio. Navazuje na provensálský sirventés.
