"Es gibt freilich Leute, die ,die Juden` nur in Verbindung mit einem Totenkopf sehen. Nach ihnen ist unser Volk so schwach und bestimmbar, daß es dem jüdischen Einfluß wehrlos unterliegen muß, wenn ihm nicht ein Damm entgegengesetzt wird. Merkwürdig nur, daß diese Befürchtung gerade aus stark national betonten Kreisen kommt! Ist man denn gerade hier des eigenen Volkstums so wenig sicher, und kann man sich nur durch möglichst hermetische Abschließung vor ,Vergiftung` schützen?" (Friedrich von Oppeln-Bronikowski, S. 43 in diesem Buch) Das Buch "Antisemitismus?" des Schriftstellers Friedrich von Oppeln-Bronikowski (1873 bis 1936) wurde Anfang des Jahres 1920 verfasst und erschien noch im selben Jahr in zwei Auflagen. Von Oppeln-Bronikowski entstammt einer preußischen Offiziersfamilie und schlug zunächst ebenfalls eine militärische Laufbahn ein. Erst nachdem er aufgrund eines Reitunfalls seine Karriere nicht fortsetzen konnte, studierte er in Berlin Philosophie, Romanistik und Archäologie. In Folge dessen übersetze er zahlreiche Autoren aus dem Französischen ins Deutsche, hierzu zählen etwa Anatole France, Honoré de Balzac oder Guy de Maupassant. Zudem führte er ein Leben als freier Schrifsteller und veröffentlichte Novellen und Romane. Als Konservativer mit nationaler Gesinnung war er zunächst Mitglied der Deutschnationalen Volkspartei (DNVP), aufgrund seiner Schriften gegen den Antisemitismus wurde er jedoch aus der Partei ausgeschlossen, nach 1933 wurden sie verboten. Lange vergriffen liegt seine humanistisch-konservative Schrift "Antisemitismus? Eine unparteiische Prüfung des Problems" nun in einer ungekürzten Neuausgabe wieder vor.
