Tato kniha navazuje na první monografii stejného autorského týmu nazvanou Cesty pravoslavné teologie na Západ ve 20. století (CDK, 2012). Nevypráví tedy znovu celý příběh, jak se po pádu Osmanské říše a pak zejména po bolševické revoluci v Rusku pravoslaví na Západ dostávalo, jaké teologické instituce tam vznikaly, s jakými problémy se pravoslavní teologové a teoložky v západní Evropě a ve Spojených státech museli potýkat. Vstupuje do tohoto příběhu a v jeho rámci zkoumá, co si ze svých domovských zemí přinesli a jak dále toto dědictví rozvinuli představitelé jednotlivých teologických proudů, kteří na Západě našli svůj domov, i to, co do pravoslavné teologie přinesli ti, kdo k pravoslaví na Západě konvertovali.
