This is a reproduction of a book published before 1923. Cyklus próz této knihy sleduje tvůrčí vývoj Jiřího Karáska v rámci jednoho z fenoménů literatury české moderny poslední dekády 19. století, jímž byly „studie nitra“, v dnešním smyslu počátky české psychologické prózy. Juvenilním prózám Jiřího Karáska ze Lvovic (1871–1951) se ani po roce 1989 nedostalo žádného podstatnějšího vydavatelského zájmu. Tato edice proto do společného cyklu zařazuje jejich první řadu: chronologický celek s ohledem na vývoj stylistiky Jiřího Karáska a sledující dosud čtenářsky méně známou tvorbu jeho nejrozsáhlejších epických skladeb tohoto období. Výbor soustřeďuje pět raných próz: román Emil (1891), román Bezcestí (1893), první verzi Gothické duše (1900) a dvě kratší prózy, které se s předešlými pojí a představují závěrečnou fázi autorových drobnokresebných textů z devadesátých let: Psychosa (1894), knižně dosud nevydaná, a Stojaté vody (1894). Dvě knihy v měkké vazbě, doslov a záložka v jednom kartonu. Vše spojené speciální pruženkou. Eli, eli, lama sabachthani… A pak vypukl v pláč a bil hlavou o zemi. Eli, eli, lama sabachthani…
