Adrian Johns je britský profesor historie. Vystudoval Cambridge, pracoval na univerzitách v Canterbury, v americké Pasadeně a na University of California v San Diegu. Nyní působí na univerzitě v Chicagu. Věnuje se především dějinám vědy, knihy a dalších médií. Je autorem knih The Nature of the Book: Print and Knowledge in the Making (Povaha knihy: Zrod tisku a vědění, 1998) a Death of a Pirate: British Radio and the Making of the Information Age (Smrt piráta: Britský rozhlas a zrod informačního věku, 2010). Knihu Pirátství napsal v roce 2009 a v roce 2010 za ni získal cenu Americké společnosti pro informace, vědu a technologie: ASIST Book of the Year Award.
