Kniha Bruce Sterlinga, která vyšla pod názvem Shaping Things v roce 2005 u MIT Press, pojednává o historii a budoucnosti navrhování věcí z hlediska futurologických perspektiv designu. Sterling jako spisovatel science fiction dokáže pracovat s neologismy a v knize vytváří úžasná spojení moderních a starých technologií, nových kategorií objektů v sítích programovatelných systémů.
