Helen Kellerová se nenechala omezovat okolnostmi. Poté, co v 19 měsících oslepla a ohlušla na spálu, se naučila číst (v několika jazycích) a dokonce mluvit, přičemž v roce 1904 s vyznamenáním absolvovala Radcliffe College.
