Více o knize
Set during the Second World War, this diary offers a poignant glimpse into life in a Tuscan valley amidst conflict. Iris Origo, an Englishwoman married to an Italian, chronicles the trials faced as her peaceful community transforms into a battleground. With bravery, she and her husband provide refuge to partisans, deserters, and evacuees, all while caring for thirty-two vulnerable children. Through her sensitive and generous writing, themes of heroism and compassion emerge against the backdrop of war's devastating impact.
