Od svého prvního setkání s autorem jsem měla obrovská očekávání. Doslova jsem čekala, že mě jeho styl a kniha posadí na zadek, ale nestalo se tak. Dialogy jsou velmi zvláštně napsané. Hemingway často dialogy opakuje klidně nekolikrát za sebou a to mi upřímně lezlo strašně na nervy. Stejně tak jako neustále se opakující jméno Robert Jordan. Robert Jordan udělal tohle, Robert Jordan udělal tamto. Bylo to velmi otravné. Moc tomu nepřispěly ani zdlouhavé a nudné filozofické myšlenky hlavní postavy. Celkově byl pro mě příběh dost o ničem, dokonce i ta romantická linka byla dost odtažitá, stejně jako zbytek knihy.
