Dshamilja is a self-assured young woman, straightforward and determined. She lives in a small village in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, alone, as her unloved husband left for war shortly after their wedding. During her daily grain transports to the train station, she meets Danijar, a shy and quiet man who is shunned by the villagers. One evening, as he sings on his way home, Dshamilja discovers a different side of him: he sings of the landscape and life, captivating her. When her husband returns, Dshamilja faces a choice – she chooses Danijar, thereby rejecting her family, her homeland, and the traditions that bind her. The story explores themes of love, freedom, and the struggle against societal norms, highlighting the tension between personal desire and cultural expectations.
