Die Geschichte der Kleinbahn Erfurt (West)- Nottleben 1926 - 1967

Více o knize

Günter Barthel's biography, edited by Harald Rockstuhl, delves into the history of the Erfurt-Nottleben narrow-gauge railway, which took over three decades to construct and was never fully completed. This railway, lacking significant tourist appeal, gained attention in 1982 when a heritage operation began, peaking during Erfurt's 1992 city anniversary. The remaining stretch between Bindersleben and Erfurt West offered stunning views of the historic city, including the cathedral and Severikirche. However, interest in the railway has waned, and its decline is expected to accelerate. This book aims to revive its legacy through extensive personal research and material collection, drawing on insights from eyewitnesses and local historians. Contributions came from notable figures, including Alfred Möller, Dr. Lothar Leye, and various municipal leaders, as well as support from the Hermann Merker Verlag for photo publication. Special thanks are extended to Peter König for his illustrations that capture the essence of the narrow-gauge railway atmosphere. This work serves as a tribute to a forgotten chapter in local history and the enduring memories of those connected to the railway.
