The Swiss artist Maja Weyermann plays with transparency and reflection as she addresses the increasing mix of fictional, virtual and real spaces using complex image constructions and different spatial perspectives. The relationship between the perception and representation of space is a common theme among the large-scale computer graphics. The artist uses architecture, film and memories as references for portraying the space as a cultural and social benchmark. This monograph features Weyermann’s most recent works. Beatrice Minda (*1968 in München), ehemals Meisterschülerin bei Katharina Sieverding an der Berliner Hochschule der Künste, arbeitet seit 2003 an einer fotografischen Serie, die sich behutsam Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Heimat, Exil und (kollektiver) Identität, von persönlicher und politischer Geschichte eines Landes widmet. Die Aufnahmen von Interieurs entstanden zunächst in Rumänien und spiegeln - so die Künstlerin selbst - die 'Atmosphäre der Räume meiner Kindheit' wider. Weitere Fotografien stammen aus Paris, München und Berlin, die im 20. Jahrhundert bevorzugte Ziele rumänischer Migranten waren. In einem dritten Teil fotografierte Beatrice Minda Hütten rumänischer Wanderarbeiter in den Vororten von Paris, um auch hier auf ein liebevoll inszeniertes Stück Heimat zu stoßen. Der Band präsentiert erstmals die wundervolle Serie, begleitet von einem Text von Ulrich Pohlmann und einem literarischen Essay des deutsch-rumänischen Schriftstellers Richard Wagner.
