This book contains substantially extended and revised versions of the best papers from the 14th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS 2012), held in Wroclaw, Poland, in June/July 2012. The 25 full and 3 invited papers included in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 299 submissions. They reflect state-of-the-art research work focusing mainly on real-world applications and highlighting the benefits of information systems and technology for industry and services, thus connecting academia with the world of real enterprises. The topics covered are: databases and information systems integration; artificial intelligence and decision support systems; information systems analysis and specification; software agents and internet computing; human-computer interaction; and enterprise architecture. Chapter “Time Efficiency of Point-of-Sale Payment Methods: Empirical Results for Cash, Cards and Mobile Payments” is available open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License via link. springer. com.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the 8th International Joint Conference on Software Technologies, ICSOFT 2013, held in Reykjavik, Iceland, in July 2013. The 19 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 121 paper submissions. The papers focus on the following research topics and applications: new software paradigm trends and mainstream software engineering and applications.

    • This book contains the best papers of the Third International Conference on Software and Data Technologies (ICSOFT 2008), held in Porto, Portugal, which was organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control (INSTICC), co-sponsored by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), in cooperation with the Interdisciplinary Institute for Collaboration and Research on Enterprise Systems and Technology (IICREST). The purpose of ICSOFT 2008 was to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in information technology and software development. The conference tracks were “Software Engineering”, “Information Systems and Data Management”, “Programming Languages”, “Distributed and Parallel Systems” and “Knowledge Engineering”. Being crucial for the development of information systems, software and data te- nologies encompass a large number of research topics and applications: from imp- mentation-related issues to more abstract theoretical aspects of software engineering; from databases and data-warehouses to management information systems and kno- edge-base systems; next to that, distributed systems, pervasive computing, data qu- ity and other related topics are included in the scope of this conference.

    • This book features a selection of outstanding papers from the Fourth International Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies (WEBIST 2008), held in Funchal, Madeira. Organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-sponsored by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), the conference aimed to unite researchers, engineers, and practitioners focused on technological advancements and business applications of web-based information systems. The conference emphasized four main areas: internet technology, web interfaces and applications, society/e-business/e-government, and e-learning. WEBIST 2008 attracted 238 paper submissions from over 40 countries, undergoing a rigorous double-blind review process involving more than 200 experts from the international Program Committee. Ultimately, 32 papers were chosen for full publication, with an additional 64 presented as short papers and 58 as posters. The acceptance ratio for full papers was 13%, while the overall oral paper acceptance ratio stood at 40%. We hope the selected papers offer valuable insights and serve as a useful reference for those engaged in the highlighted research areas.
