Contributions from the German Association for Comparative Law will be featured at this summer's twentieth International Congress of Comparative Law in Fukuoka, Japan. The six-day event will cover a wide range of topics, with a particular emphasis on multiculturalism and language as they relate to comparative law methodology and family law. Key discussions will also address consumer protection issues, including choice of court agreements, price control in contracts, duty of information, regulation of crowd-funding, and leisure and travel contracts. Another significant focus will be on the implications of digitalization across economic, societal, and legal spheres, highlighting data protection issues in comparative law, such as the right to be forgotten and current national legal frameworks. This volume aims to capture the current state of discourse within German jurisprudence. Contributions come from a diverse group of scholars, including Christina Breunig, Moritz Brinkmann, Johanna Croon-Gestefeld, and many others, reflecting a rich tapestry of insights and perspectives on contemporary legal challenges.
The International Congress of Comparative Law, organised by the International Academy of Comparative Law, took place in Vienna from 20th to 26th July 2014. A number of different legal topics were discussed, such as: comparative law and unification of laws, legal education, private international law, environmental law, intellectual property, labour law, public international law, tax law and constitutional law. The reports written by the national commentators on their various fields are based on the questionnaires set out by the general reporting secretaries, who are experts in their own fields. Most of the German reports are published in this book.

Erstmals werden Farbfotografien der beiden DDR-Bildjournalisten Martin Schmidt und Kurt Schwarzer aus dem Bestand des Deutschen Historischen Museums der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert. Ihr fotografisches Werk beeindruckt durch Qualität und Vielfalt: Es umfasst ein breites Themenspektrum aus vier Jahrzehnten DDR. Unter den jeweils etwa 50 000 Negativen befinden sich auch zahlreiche Farbaufnahmen, von denen mehr als 300 Fotografien für diesen Bildband ausgewählt wurden. Martin Schmidt und Kurt Schwarzer gehörten als freischaffende Bildjournalisten zu einer seltenen Berufsgruppe in der DDR: Ihre Reportagen entstanden im Auftrag verschiedener Zeitschriften, darunter auch Magazine der DDR-Auslandspropaganda. Werbefotos für VEBs, Produkte, Messen und Kochbücher belegen die Vielfalt ihres Schaffens. Mit der Kamera besuchten sie Betriebe und LPGs, Kindergärten und Altenheime, berichteten vom Leben der Frauen in der DDR und dokumentierten neben anderen Großstädten auch das moderne Berlin.
