The understanding of personhood is one of the central issues of debate in many academic disciplines as well as in society at large. This collection of specially commissioned essays provides a modern theological exploration.Against a background of the renaissance of trinitarian thought, the authors explore the interrelationship between divine personhood, as it is expressed in the doctrine of the Trinity, and human personhood. These essays indicate the contribution trinitarian theology at King's College can make in the dialogue on the nature of personhood.

The recent renaissance of trinitarian theology serves as the foundation for the studies in this volume. Christoph Schwobel posits that the doctrine of the Trinity is the comprehensive framework for Christian doctrine. The collected studies illustrate the influence of trinitarian thought on key Christian doctrines, from creation to eschatology. It is proposed that the relationship of God as Father, Son, and Spirit shapes His relationship with the world as creation. Thus, a relational theology is essential for understanding both the world and humanity. The author introduces the challenges and promises of trinitarian theology, aiming to guide readers in systematic theology. In the context of religious and ideological pluralism, the identity of the triune God becomes crucial to understanding the structure of Christian faith and church life. Schwobel argues that the doctrine of the Trinity acts as a framework for Christian belief and its dogmatic expression.
