This is a rough, gruff, homeless girl who never needed anyone. This is Josh, the boy she met on the street, the one who put a skateboard in her hand and offered her more freedom than she’d ever knew existed. And this is the small-time drug dealer/surfer kid who builds his life around these other two. Together, the three of them learn to trust and hold each other in a strong family bond that acts as a barrier against the harsh realities of homelessness, drug addiction, and the knife-edged cruelties they face on a daily basis. Despite her progress, she turns to alcohol to cope, leading her to discover a new addiction. The narrative explores her ongoing fight against the grip of substance abuse and the challenges of recovery, highlighting the complexities of addiction and the struggle for a stable life.

The story follows Kyler, a former street kid and skateboarder who spirals into addiction and contemplates suicide after hitting rock bottom. Rescued from an overdose, she finds hope and healing through a compassionate doctor who becomes a father figure. As Kyler confronts her past and battles her inner demons, she gradually learns to love and trust again, rediscovering peace and purpose through skating and embracing life moment by moment.

Kyler is back with another heartbreaking story of addiction and love. She finds herself caught up in Josh's fidelity issues while trying to help Mike through a horrible time of addiction and borderline insanity. With the help of her closest friends and family, they bind together to give amazing amounts of strength and faith, and throughout everything, each of them finds his and her own ways to endure and sustain. Family is not always about blood, and never has this been made so clear to Kyler and Josh as they work through their own problems and find home and family and love all over again.
