Fly fishing for trout is a fascinating and addictive sport but is one where
only experience, skill and the ability to 'think problems through' logically
will lead to constant success. This book is suitable for all those trout
anglers who wish to improve their catches.
The development of reservoir fly fishing in England has provided a small number of notable innovators who have changed the way that stillwater anglers fish forever, and within that select company must surely be included the name of Tom Ivens. It is impossible to over-emphasize the influence that he had on the development of reservoir fly angling which came as a result of the publication of his classic book, Still Water Fly-Fishing. The ideas he proposed at that time quickly became the benchmark for tackling reservoirs. He invented many new fly patterns, popularized double-haul casting, designed a range of fishing rods, introduced a series of shooting heads, perfected tapered nylon leaders, and also devised alternative methods of recovering his flies. Twenty six of his patterns are described in detail with the dressing menus, instructions on how best to fish them and there is a full colour photograph of each one. This present volume is intended to provide an insight into this influential angler and his considerable achievements. 67 illustrations, 2 diagrams, 4 maps & 2 tables. The adventures of Wilfred the Rabbit and His Friends are simple and straightforward tales about Wilfred and his two pals: Eustace and Ronnie. Each rabbit has his own distinct personality and they all have a deep love and friendship for one another. The stories are sixteen individual tales, complete in themselves, and they can be read in any order and they all have a happy and contented ending. As such they make ideal bedtime stories (each tale only takes five minutes or so to read) and they can be re-read many times over, with the child able to choose their own favourites. They can be read by the child, but even better by the parent to the child (or the child to the parent) and they can help form the basis of many pleasant bedtimes together. It is hoped that in the years to come the adventures of Wilfred the Rabbit and his Friends will bring back happy and fond childhood memories. Target Audience: Boys and Girls, Age 5 to 10 years old.
Without doubt, in the British Isles, reservoirs provide the best, and the most
accessible and affordable opportunity for catching rainbow and brown trout
with an artificial fly. In whatever part of the country you reside, there will
probably be at least one day-ticket reservoir close to your home that is
stocked with trout.
