The research investigates the chlorinated solvent removal efficiency of three wetland plant species: Eleocharis erythropoda, Carex comosa, and Scirpus atrovirens. Each species exhibits unique characteristics that contribute to their effectiveness in degrading chlorinated solvents. The study highlights the structural differences—such as thin tube-like leaves and extensive root masses of Spike Rush, broad leaves of Longhaired Sedge, and the long flowering stems of Green Bulrush—demonstrating the potential of wetlands in environmental remediation, particularly for PCE degradation.
