Focusing on the underexplored grassroots political engagement of women in Kenya, this study examines their participation from 1963 to 2013 in the Bomachoge constituency. It highlights women's roles as candidates and officeholders at both civic and parliamentary levels while analyzing patterns of participation and structural barriers they face. By incorporating historical perspectives from the colonial and pre-colonial eras, the research employs gender and patriarchy theories to provide a comprehensive understanding of women's political dynamics in the region.
