Edward Everett Knihy

Edward Everett byl jedním z nejvýznamnějších amerických řečníků před občanskou válkou a během ní. Jeho projev na slavnostním ceremoniálu k zasvěcení Národního pohřebiště v Gettysburgu v roce 1863, který trval přes dvě hodiny a předcházel slavný projev Abrahama Lincolna, je dodnes připomínán. Everettova rétorika a jeho schopnost zapojit publikum byly v jeho době pozoruhodné a odrážely intelektuální a politické proudy tehdejší Ameriky.
