Evě Mozes bylo deset let, když byla se svou rodinou poslána do Osvětimi. V lete roku 1941 nacisti deportovali Evu Mozesovú Korovú a celú jej rodinu do Osvienčimu. V priebehu tridsiatich minút ich od seba oddelili. Eviných rodičov a staršie sestry poslali rovno do plynovej komory, kým Eva a jej sestra-dvojička Miriam sa ocitli v rukách Mengeleho, ktorý bol známy aj ako Anjel smrti. Mali vtedy len desať rokov. Dvojičky mali v Osvienčime určité „privilégiá“ – mohli nosiť vlastné oblečenie a nevyholili im hlavy dohola, ale stali sa objektom Mengeleho sadistických experimentov. Veľa z nich zomrelo v dôsledku pokusov, chorôb a hladovania. Ale ďalšie prežili vďaka obdivuhodnej detskej vynaliezavosti, odvahe a neochvejnej vôli žiť. Eva si s odstupom desaťročí spomína na svoje šťastné detstvo v Transylvánii, vzostup antisemitizmu a jeho vplyv na jej rodinu. Mesiace strávené v Osvienčime opisuje vecne, citlivo a s veľkou dávkou nadhľadu. Jej rozprávanie je inšpiratívnym príbehom o vytrvalosti, odhodlaní a boji o prežitie tvárou v tvár extrémnemu zlu.
